ABOUT US
Years ago, our director Nikkhil Dixit had a life-changing meeting with Naseeruddin Shah, who told him: “Make your own group. Work with 4–5 actors. Create something.
It doesn’t matter if it’s good or bad—just create.” Nikkhil took this to heart and began writing shows, nurturing a dream to create theatre that is honest, impactful and inclusive.
Thus began Roobaru Roshni Theatre Company, a 7-year-old theatre initiative that started humbly with our first show, Daastan-e-Ghalib, performed for just six audience members. From that small beginning, we made it a habit to create shows rooted in diverse cultures, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who watched.
Today, our journey includes 20+ original plays, 350+ performances, 250+ productions, 1000+ actors trained both online and offline and 200+ workshops. Every project we undertake stems from a love for storytelling, a passion for the craft, and a dream to build a space where artists are welcomed, encouraged, and free to explore.
At Roobaru Roshni, we believe every person has an artist inside them. Our mission is simple: create, perform, and inspire, so that dreams can take shape on stage and in life.
